I agree Brian. Gene's advice is good advice. Too often, well-meaning people make things worse than if they had left the piece in the original condition ... especially when dealing with two different metals.

Sometimes the intial cleaning looks nice ... but down the road the improper steps taken during cleaning and handling becomes obvious and repeated cleanings are not adviseable.
