Insurance is for people who worry about some slug in the sort room, slamming the envelope or those who are of little faith.
Anyone who has received anything from me knows it's packed, stapled, taped and wrapped. But never a bit of tape touches the chip, so it's easy to pull open the paper wrapping and have a nice clean chip or token.
I ship what might be called more expensive items, via UPS which means $200 insurance with the cost of shipping.
If anyone thinks UPS is immune to package tossing or theft, just remember people are the same, wherever you go. I remember loading trucks at 3 am and the strict rule, "no tossing packages" which as Dick pointed out, happens anyway.
There are belts and labels can get torn off. There are places where a package can get caught in machinery.
And I know I'm being redundant now... I know that some people don't pack things worth a darn. That "nice little slit" the exact size of the token, is made by the token.
When someone mailed me a $1 token, in a busines size envelope, NOTHING ELSE I was very surprised that I got it. I could see where it almost escaped.
I just don't like the automtic assumption that if something is lost or dammaged, it's the postal worker who gets blamed for stealing something.
Pack your shipments well and they will arrive as planned, in good condition.
