Just like some carriers might be Morons (I agree Dick) there's always one or two in a crowd.

Poor packing is still a major cause of loss. That's the point. As others wrote out, tape the ends and put the strike or whatever inside some packing material. That way it's less likely to get "dammaged in machinery", stolen or break out from rough handling.

Insurance of course is the safe answer. I never disagreed with that.
