Re: $5 Machine Questions
In Response To: $5 Machine Questions ()

Pete; The quantity of collectibles produced is nothing new in this hobby. Low numbers of what we collect (including chips) has always been the subject of much discussion.

I'm sure that the casino execs have given great thought to how many of any item they order from their suppliers. I'm equally as sure that the suppliers reps have suggested that they up the numbers ordered as well.

For some strange reasoning, some casinos want what they are producing to be in much demand ... and not how many units they can sell ... therefore they stimulate interest in their product by issuing them in low quantities to blow them off the shelves so to speak. 150 or 200 of an item does not have the same magical appeal that only 100 has. 150 or 200 of an item would not have collectors and dealers lining up 14 hours prior to the release time.

It's time we all looked in the mirror (collector, dealer and casino executive alike) .... and as Pogo once said ... "I have met the enemy and it is us"!
