Certain characters are hung upside down because the Chinese word for "upside down" sounds like "has arrived". So, if you hang the word for "good fortune" upside down, it is interpreted as "good fortune is here". However, the Chinese character in the Bellagio strike is NOT upside down, it is printed BACKWARDS, as in mirror image. I've never seen anyone put the mirror image of a Chinese character on display...I'm not sure if that would have the same meaning.
