I was there around Dec 29th and I believe they still had a $200 in the cage, don't ask me wich it was, I only took home 7 strikes.
I trust you are correct about the return of the new $200 strikes, I wonder if any of the new ones got out?
Yes, the people there were friendly, and there are two machines. Pretty interesting since Atlantis (huge, new upscale Atlantis) could fit Sid's into one of their restrooms), has only two machines, with cracked cases and all the Tucan's you want, but nothing else... Sid's is like a gem. Small but making the strike machines work for them.
Agreed, location means something, other small town strikes don't attract the attention that anything Las Vegas does, same goes for tokens, postcards, ashtrays, chips, dice. (OK we all agree!)
Hey only 100 made, now I know I should have stayed for that "rare" strike.
Honest, I came in and there was a guy playing the front machine, I stood and waited and "discovered" the second machine. I played a bit and after 7 strikes, decided to call it. At the same time, that other guy was just finishing. During that time I didn't see one person, playing any other machine in the casino, except my lady friend. (I'm not sure if she played or was just sitting and sipping a diet soda) Enough to convince me, the strike machines work for Sid's.
Nice designs, harder to get than the Las Vegas strikes that come from someplace that millions of people visit. By logical means, they should be worth more, because they are hard to get. But we know they aren't because the demand is much lower than the Mecca of gambling.
I'm begining to think that any strike collector who passes or is anywhere near Sid's should drop in, just for the experience of friendly cage people, nice strike machines, the tribute to the Veteran's and for the strange Elvis memorial items displayed.
Until I got there, I thought it was a small casino. Just in case anyone else is in the dark like I was, it's a truck stop.
