Some clarifications might be in order regarding the O'Shea's tournament info release.
1. Dennis Finn on 10/4/01 at 4:37 p.m. posted this information...
After 8 AM PST Friday, call 1-800-225-4882 to register for the first silver strike tournament ever, to be held at O'Shea's Las Vegas on 12-1 and 12-2-01. Entry fee is $300 per person. Tell the operator Code 1 SS 12 for the correct way to enroll. Limited to 150 entrants.

You can register at 1-800-225-4882, I just did. There are some slots available but they are going fast.

I signed up this morning. Sounds like so much fun. I can hardly wait. We were in the first 10 to sign up. There are three of us playing. So ## 1, 2 and 3 are spoken for. Ha, Ha..

As of 4 p.m. on Sat. Oct. 6th, O'Shea's had signed up 120 for the strike tournament, so there are only 30 places left. If you're interested in joining in the fun, you'd better call in quickly (1-800-225-4882; the code number is 1SS12). You should have a credit card number ready, and, if you have a Flamingo slot card number, they would like that, too. For more details on the tournament, feel free to e-mail me.

Janel Cole emailed me today and said that 134 spots have been taken. That means only 16 left, so if you are procrastinating, the time to enter is now.
Also, pursuant to a great suggestion by Ray Moritz and John Lauderdale, she is working on a trading/hospitality room for one of the nights, probably Saturday because of the sessions being on Saturday and Sunday.
Dennis P. Berry replied to Dennis Finn's post at 10/13/01 9:02 a.m.
Hi all, Just wanted to thank John and Ray for such a great idea of the trading session. Just wish I had thought of it. I hope Janel is able to make it happen. I am looking forward to the tournament like I know all of you are.

Are the only prizes being given the numbered strikes...or will there also be cash prizes.
To which I replied at 10/13/01 10:16 p.m. with the full details of the tournament as per the e-Mail that I had received on 10/5
The thread that follows under my post is somewhat confusing as...
Dennis Finn posted at 10/14/01 12:04 a.m.
Don Nesbitt called me tonight. He had just tried to sign up for the tournament and was told he was approximately number 10 on the waiting list.
LATER we have three people posting that they made reservations for the tournament...
James McFadden posted 10/14/01 2:49 p.m. "i just got off the phone and reserved two spots in the tournament at 1:30 10-14-01"
Jo posted at 10/14/01 3:05 p.m. "I also just got off the phone and reserved a spot for my friend.
Andy Hughes posted at 10/14/01 3:15 p.m. "I was told that I was the last entry when I called at 2:05 P.M." on 10-14-01
As to what happened here I am not sure. BUT I had heard that Janel wanted to hold back several slots for the casino's special players. Maybe these slots are becoming open as she gets responses from those people.
I would hope that Don Nesbitt would have been given a spot over someone just calling in for the first time to make a reservation, as well as those 10 in front of him on that waiting list.
All this being said. This tournament is totally in the hands of O'Shea's, The Flamingo and Janel Cole. It is their game call the rules and make the rules however they see fit.
The CC>CC and the Silver Striker's Chapter had nothing to do with creating this tournament. Albeit, certain members, collectors and dealers did received inside information. I myself read Dennis Finn's first preview post and attempted calling that evening... WRONG! It wasn't open yet. I did call back the next day at 1:30 and make my reservations for 2. At this point I hadn't received the e-mail detailing the tournament.
The information on how to sign up was made available to all the readers of THIS message board THE AFTERNOON PRIOR TO THE OPENINGS FOR SIGNING UP FOR THE TOURNAMENT.
At this point anyone could have called the Casino and gotten whatever tournament details the person there making the reservations had at that point in time.
On 10/6 Lisa Jung stated in her post... For more details on the tournament, feel free to e-mail me.
Maybe this offer should have been made in its own singular beginning message. However, knowing Lisa Jung's use of computers I seriously doubt her re typing the entire message into a message here. She still hasn't really got the hang of how to cut and paste here.
Also, I think Janel had some major concerns holding a Silver Strike tournament after the current events that have taken place in this country. And might I remind everyone that Janel had lost her mother 2 days before the attack on the World Trade Center while most of the tournament plans were taking place. I only hope she didn't have to difficult a problem getting back to her mothers hometown for the funeral given the situation as it was then.
This is the World's First Silver Strike Slot Tournament and anything in its infancy will have it's problems.
