I am interested to know if any other strike collector knows the answer to this question. This strike was pushed as the "pewter" design since it has a pewter appearance, but the strike itself says .999 silver. Is this indeed a .999 silver insert with a blackening agent to make it look like pewter or is it really pewter? I have often wondered about this, anybody know the real story? Thanks...
