I am a relatively new member of CC & GTCC as my high membership number indicates. Wife and I just returned from a delightful five-day trip to Vegas where I figured out that silver strikes are just gorgeous and very collectable. We stayed at the Boardwalk hotel and casino, where I won a couple of their Jocko strikes at the slot machine near the guest services desk, including possibly the cheapest $10 silver strike I will ever win, after 3 pulls of a 25 cent machine. I noticed only one or two other slot machines in other casinos offering the commemmorative silver strikes but was surprised not to find very many similar slot machines at other Strip or Downtown casinos.
Bear with me because I'm really new at this. Are silver strikes available for sale at the casino cages, or should I ask about where a slot machine is to possibly win one of them? While trying to bulk up my chip and gaming token inventory (I have a 10-year-old son who also wants to collect my duplicate chips), I tried to buy a few $1 slot machine gaming tokens at the change booth but when I offered two dollars for two tokens they often looked at me like I was from Mars or something. One employee who had some trouble with English went to great lengths to pantomime that I could enter my dollar bills in the slot machines, while I went to great lengths to convince her I didn't want to play the slots, that I was just looking for souvenirs.
Anyway, there seems to be a lot of silver strikes from many different casinos being discussed here and offered on eBay, and I don't have the first clue about how they are normally acquired. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
WMD
