I just luv this forum. On this thread we have had a casino slot manager, an entreprenuer who acquires and sells, several collectors who also trade and sell, all expounding from their perspective. The opinions of each reflect their interests. Great! Now the greater question is do the actions of these individuals limit or advance the hobby/compulsion? Will strikes go the way of beanie babies? This is more than a rhetorical question in my mind.
FWIW - My opinion is that for an item to be collectible then it must have limited availability and at least the perception that it will appreciate in value. There must also be support organizations that help distribute the product and disseminate information.
This may not be the right forum, but how does one get a spot on the in-casino (hotel) television system that promotes the casino games, events and amenities? This would be a great place to introduce silver strikes to the unwashed.
PS. Last week we drove over 3,000 miles, met new friends and reaffirmed acquaintances while in line at the 4 Queens(in-line before 8 a.m.). I have a Joker to trade for 1 of 2 $200 Slots A Fun I don't have and the next Palms Playboy $200, any takers.
