A number of members had asked the officers to look into the possibility of holding a slot tournament for Silver Strikers. The board decided that the only way to determine the level of interest in the idea was to take it to the membership for a vote.

And the membership has spoken! Or at least a very small part of the membership. Just 25 votes were received (18 for and 7 against), representing less than 5% of the membership. That small number is a clear indication of the lack of interest in pursuing a silver strike slot tournament in Las Vegas in mid-December.

As it happens, the proposal was informally put to the folks at IGT and their reply was that the idea to produce a limited number of strikes and make them available to slot tournament entrants only would NOT be approved by the Gaming Commission. So it does not appear possible to have such a tournament in the future.
