Pete, you are right to a certain extent. Bottom line to any collectables value is what someone is willing to pay for that item on that given day. There are many web sites with strikes for sale. And books listing different values for the same strike. I would say not one of them is wrong on certain days. But overall we at StrikeValues let you know with just a click what the strike you are interested in has sold for on either Jackpot Auctions or ebay. If you are working a trade lets say. This is just another place to go to check and see if you are both getting a fair trade. We have all traded and hoped we did ok on some trades. And I am sure on some trades we later find out that we did not do so well. Who's fault is it that we feel sort of taken advantage of. Well it is your own fault for not making sure it was a good trade for you both.
Lets take the $7.00 McCarran just as a example. Just about two years ago they were pretty scarce and were selling for around $300.00. So if you were now in the market for that strike you can look in books and see it listed at around the $300.00 value mark. So do you buy or trade just on that ? I would say no, you want all the information you can get. At our site you will see that in May one sold for $135.25 and in June another sold for $96.09 . So if you bought one for around $300.00 you paid to much. Please do not get me wrong, books are great also. We all need all the information we can get in our hobby.
And for $4.95 a month you have no idea what all goes into keeping a site updated. But for that you get the most current sold values as we can get for you on the strikes that have sold. Because we has a request we added a extra column to each Jackpot and ebay so you can even see a small trend on the sold strikes.
We do think it is a pretty good site and helpful to those who choose to use it. It is also a super data base as we keep it updated with any new releases as they come out so you the collector know what is missing in your collections also with just a click of the mouse.
As I stated in other notes on this board, we welcome any and all comments.
Thank you to all of our members and I hope to see more of you sogning up.
