What I don't understand Walt ... is why so many of these computer robot generated spam posts are made in the first place. Surely there can't be that many people who actually respond to the messages... or can there?

Eventually, they are removed whenever those volunteers with message board administratvie capability get around to it. I understand that they have priorties that take precedence over what must be a very time-consuming project keeping the message boards fairly clean.
