Hi Ron, Here is the "Real" story on the copper rims that for some reason or other other "strikers" either don't know or are avoiding the truth of the issue. It is a purely economic issue to the mint putting these copper rim strikes out. "Yellow" brass is basically a mixture of 65 to 70 percent copper and 30 to 35 percent Zinc with usually 1 or 2 percent other "alloys" depending on the malleability (hardness)wanted for the purpose. Right now there is a "glut" of copper (prices are low) and a "scarcity" of zinc (prices are high). Using the "brains" that the Good Lord gave you, you can see why the Global Mint is requesting the blank rim supplier to provide the "cheaper" blanks. Many collectors have got caught up in the "frenzy" and seem to be paying a "premium" for copper rimmed strikes! I personally refuse to get caught up in this foolishness as more than likely copper rimmed strikes are here to stay at least the ones from Global. I know this message may "irritate" some of you collectors but that is not my intent. I only seek to put out the "Real Truth" about this whole copper business. There you have it in a "nut shell"! If no one else sends a scan for you showing the differences between the brass and copper rims get back with me and I will scan a couple of strikes for you............Cordially.........Dick Maheu
