Regarding the Treasure Island $40 strikes, I think there are many more than 50 in the hands of collectors. I think the days of even a $1500 price are gone.
I have seen three walk in to shows in the hands of non-collectors trying to sell them. When I was playing at Mirage the first day they had the Danny Gans strikes, two different supervisors (in suits) approached me to buy one that they had gotten when they worked at TI.
