Both the 53 and 54 had three side draft carburetors; the ones on mine were made by Carter. Both the 53 and 54 had the wire (or as John calls them Spider type) headlight covers. Now for the hard part, I believe the horsepower for the 1953 was 150 and for the 1954 it was 155. The hard part is what did they do to increase the horsepower? The only thing I know is they changed the air cleaner setup; the short block, head, carbs, cam, and distributor were the same for both years.
