Bill,
The Blue Flame had 3 one barrel carburetors with long and skinny chrome air cleaners. The carburetors are side-draft which means they are bolted on the side of the manifold and not on the top like a regular V8 Chevy engine. I don't know if you really care about the kind of air cleaners they had, but this is the answer.
John,
The 1953 Blue Flame had 150 hp (the '54 you could get with 150 hp or 155 hp). It had 3 Carter YH carburetors. The carburetor number is 2066S-SA. Idle screw setting turns are 1/2 to 1 1/2. Fast idle adjustment is .020 and there was no automatic choke setting. The metal mesh headlight covers were on the 1953, but I can't remember either if they were on the '54.
Just a bit of trivia........And, of course, the firing order of this engine and every other in-line 6 cylinder engine built (auto, boat, aircraft, tractor, etc.) is: 1-5-3-6-2-4! This is common knowledge so I am sure you already knew this.
