and slabbing just doesn't make sense if it is directed at the TRUE SILVER STRIKE COLLECTOR which I do not believe it is, as there aren't really that many of us. It is directed at the COIN COLLECTOR or should I say COIN INVESTOR.
At the convention the representative from one of the manufacturers point blank stated that Anchor Gaming (the casino was his word) pay's for what they receive and they do not pay for proofs. So we should never see a slabbed silver strike with a PROOF grade on it.
I wonder how the silver strike collectors would embrace the Sheldon numerical system which is..
Poor-1
Fair-2
About Good-3 (abbreviated as AG-3)
Good-4 to 6 (G-4, G-6) - - - - - - - Where's 7 ????
Very Good-8 or 10 (VG-8, VG-10) - - - - - - -Where's 9 ???
Fine-12 or 15 (F-12, F-15) - - - - - - - Where's 16, 17, 18, 19 ???
Very Fine-20, 25, 30, 35 (VF-20, etc.) - - - - - - - Where's 36, 37, 38, 39 ???
Extremely Fine-40 or 45 (EF-40, EF-45) - - - - - - - Where's 46, 47, 48, 49 ???
AU-50, 53, 55, or 58 (AU-50, etc.) - - - - - - - Where's 51, 52, 54, 56, 57, 59 ???
MS-60 continuously through MS-70 (MS-60, MS-61, MS-62, etc.)
Proofs are graded the same as Mint State coins, 60 through 70, and are as follows: Proof-60, Proof-61, etc
If as stated by the manufacturer, the PROOF category just shouldn't exist in Silver Strikes and most of the COIN INVESTORS, would prefer to purchase proofs over MS grades. I wonder just how many slabbed silver strikes would see COIN INVESTORS portfolios?
In my opinion, there just aren't that many silver strike tokens that are worth enough to be entombed in a slab.
Take a look at the completed auctions link I've provided below. Currently it lists 15 pages of completed auctions (which includes about 1 page of holders). Out of those auctions look and see just how may pages you have to go through to find the first token that sells for over $50.00 and look at just how many didn't sell.
MY OPINION::::
SLABBING OF SILVER STRIKES JUST DOESN'T MAKE ANY SENSE!!!
