As much as collectors hate to see stikes go to a dealer for scrap silver it seems into days market it is the best way to get at least face for the commons that people aren't buying even for face. If you don't belive this just watch ebay and jackpot and see how many strikes go unsold every month, seems if there are any new collectors out there they aren't buying the old issue strikes.
When it becomes my time to sell my collection I figure I might still get a good price for the rare or scarce strikes and as I have said before I hope at that time silver is above $25 per oz and they to will go to a bullion dealer I work with, or if the cost isn't to great I might have all the centers melted down into a nice silver bar. If folks out there have problems with people selling for melt then step up and buy all common strikes off ebay and jackpot.
There are still a few dealers out there who deal in buying somebodys collection but I would bet they aren't paying face value to buy them.
