Recent reports from the scene: there is a crowd around the machine, waiting to play. The casino has run out of the King and Queen of Clubs $200 strike and is now issuing the King and Queen of Hearts $200. Ther were 50 of each made and it is almost 100& that no more will be made. That is also the plan for Spades and Diamonds, but they haven't gone into production yet since they were approved Monday afternoon. Many collectors are going to be shut out. Is this casino a friend of the collectors?
By the way, #14 Clubs strike is going to be returned to the mint because of a big scratch. At least two collectors rejected it, so it must be bad.
The FQ limited to 50 and the reverse plating at Slots A Fun. Nine 200s here (SAF), 5 there (Palms). Is anyone thinking what I'm thinking about the exploitation of the collector? How about we talk at the Chapter meeting and see if we can reverse the trends. Maybe our new chapter officers can talk sense to the casinos, perhaps reminding them of the goose that laid the golden egg. I, for one, am getting a little weary of being manipulated. When the bell rings, we salivate money into strike machines. (I plead guilty to this.) Perhaps if no one played the machines at the offending casino, they might get the message. Or single out a casino. 125 strikes that no one wants and which prevent any others from going into play is a pretty powerful message. I have a complete Nevada collection, but I refuse to add any reverse-plated strike to my collection. Anyone care to join me?
